Sunday Dinners

Purpose

Relationships need to be nurtured, and that involves spending time together in fellowship.  Jesus shows us this by his own example of sharing a meal with his followers.  We follow Jesus' example by gathering together for dinner before high school youth group on Sunday nights.  Sunday dinners allow us the opportunity to get to know one another, which builds a stronger faith community.  We hope that you are able to participate in our Sunday dinners!

You many sign up for Sunday dinners, http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F084BAFAC2CA1F49-sunday2.

Logistics

Approximately 20 students join us for dinner at youth group on Sunday nights. If your student regularly attends youth group, we ask that your family to sign up to provide dinner once per year.  If you have more than one student in the program, we ask that you sign up for the corresponding number of dinner slots.  You will receive a reminder email about 10 days prior to the date you signed up to provide dinner.

Food

  • Families can choose to prepare meals at minimum costs. Examples of popular meals include pizza, frozen lasagna, spaghetti, tacos, subs, chili in a crock-pot, soup and salad, and even pancakes with sausage. Lemonade mix is available in the Chelsea Commons kitchen to make in large coolers.
  • Please make sure there is an option for the vegetarians in the community!

Meal Service

  • The meal is served buffet style on the long tables in More Hall.
  • The buffet line needs to be ready at 6pm.
  • Paper products (plates, napkins, cutlery, and cups) can be found on the More Hall kitchen shelves.
  • Allow enough time to set up. It is recommended that families set-up around 5:30pm.

Clean-Up

  • Please leave the kitchen and More Hall in the condition you found it, or cleaner!
  • Students are expected to throw away their trash and clean-up after themselves.
  • Trash bins are lined with black paper bags and should be emptied if full.
  • Pitchers, coolers, and non-disposable dishes should be washed and put away.
  • Any extra food can be taken home by your family or given away to other people to take home.
