what is the purpose of a choir?

The choir plays an important role both in and outside the liturgy. Choirs aid the congregation in their responses and acclamations and, by preparing beautiful and challenging music, glorify God and edifies the parish community. Choir also acts as a small faith community within the parish, offering its members a place of spiritual growth, fellowship, and encouragement.

Do you sing or play an instrument? We welcome people of all skill levels, no need to read music to join! For more information, please speak with Mark Wilson after Mass or contact us using the information below.

Choir Commitment

Rehearsals: Thursdays at 6:15 p.m.
Sunday Mass: Arrive at least 30 minutes before the Mass you sing at.
Combined Choir: On the first Sunday of each month, all choirs join together on a rotating basis.

Instrumentalists
Players should be proficient, practice independently, and arrive 30 minutes before the Mass they serve at.

Cantors
Because cantors serve in a leadership role, they must first sing with the Sunday choir for at least 6 months before being appointed. Even when not scheduled as cantor, members are expected to continue singing with the choir.
